Connecticut Valley Hospital (CVH) , under the umbrella of the State of Connecticut , Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS ) is seeking a qualified Head Nurse (PCN 28207) to join our team in Middletown. This position will lead nursing services within the Battell 2 South unit of our General Psychiatry Division. Find out more information on these great opportunities below!
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Work Shift: First shift, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Every other weekend and rotating holidays
Battell 2 South is an acute general psychiatric treatment unit with a maximum census of twenty-two patients. The unit provides psychiatric treatment and stabilization for individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness, with the goal of discharge to the community in the most integrated setting possible.

Lead the planning of care and implementation of the nursing process
Assign, oversee and review work
Lead professional and paraprofessional nursing staff in provision of patient/individual care
Ensure controlled drugs are properly stored, administered and ordered
Identify staff development needs, and provide staff training and assistance
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to promote and ensure adjustment and continuity of patient/individual care programs
Respond to emergencies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
A Bachelor’s degree in nursing may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license or temporary permit as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut.
