Position Summary-

Working in collaboration with neonatologists, NNP's are responsible for the day to day management of critically ill and convalescing infants in - leading care and coordinating the efforts of the health care team. This includes specialized neonatal care i.e. delivery room resuscitation, stabilization, initiation of infant treatment and necessary procedures, prescribing diagnostic testing, medications, and therapies, and providing family support. NNP's are in a leadership position in the NICU. Additional responsibilities include select nursing and medical staff education; consultation; advocacy for patients, families, and nursing staff; involvement in professional development and research; participation and leadership in unit committees and councils; improvement of unit-specific neonatal outcomes.

Position Requirements-

Professional level of knowledge within health care field through completion of a Master's Degree in nursing-advanced practice. License to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin. Current CPR certification ' Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required. Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) training is required. Certification for Neonatal Nurse Practitioners must be obtained within 6 months of hire date. Proficiency in complex professional and administrative skills usually acquired through 2-3 years of clinical experience related to program specialty. Experience in program development helpful.
