We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with the ED Follow Up Team in Manhattan. In this role, the successful candidate will provide, coordinate, and assure comprehensive nursing care using nursing process and standards of care, diagnose illnesses and physical conditions, and perform therapeutic, corrective, and prescriptive measures for the designated inpatient or outpatient population within a collaborative practice agreement with a physician at NYU Hospitals Center. Job Responsibilities

Plans and organizes care to meet individual patient needs and ensures appropriate clinical resource utilization per protocols and pathways. Monitors and trends cost effectiveness related to efficiency and performance indicators for the service. Assists in preparation, implementation, and evaluation of research protocols when applicable. Collaborates with nursing and other disciplines in developing and implementing clinical studies within the area of expertise. Uses evidence-based literature to advise and support practice changes within the designated service. Participates in patient outcomes monitoring per established protocols for quality and performance improvement. Serves as a clinical expert and resource for education of peers and health professionals. Maintains current expertise in the area of practice and promotes professional growth in clinical and managerial roles. Considers the needs and behaviors of specific patient age and cultural groups in all care. Evaluates treatment and care plans for effectiveness and modifies per clinical standards and protocols. Practices as a member of the allied health staff according to Medical Staff rules and bylaws. Prescribes medical equipment, devices, therapies, and home health services per practice protocol; prescribes medications in accordance with New York State law and DEA authorization as applicable. Collaborates with the attending physician and other disciplines to develop and implement a plan of care that aligns with patient and family preferences and improves outcomes. Orders laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies per protocols and follows up on abnormal findings. Performs complete health history, physical examination, and psychosocial assessment within the designated practice unit. Works collaboratively with nursing leadership and the interdisciplinary team to ensure timely communication with patients and families. Contributes to professional standards, patient education materials, and continuity of care across services. Fosters teamwork with the attending physician and other disciplines to implement the therapeutic plan of care for groups of patients. Minimum Qualifications

Licensure: Current NYS Registered Professional Nurse and NYS Nurse Practitioner registration. Education: Master's Degree in Nursing. Certification: ANCC or equivalent Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners; BLS or ACLS; PALS; NRP Provider and NALS as privileges allow. Required Licenses

Registered Nurse License - NYS Nurse Practitioner - NYS Preferred Qualifications

At least five years of clinical nursing practice with ability to apply nursing process toward outcomes focused on safety and satisfaction. Experience as a nurse practitioner is preferred; strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving, leadership, and team collaboration skills. Physical stamina and dexterity; membership in professional organizations is desirable.
