Clinical Care: The Physician Assistant (PA) or the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process as part of an interdisciplinary team. Provides optimal patient care across inpatient, ambulatory, and outpatient settings, working in collaboration with the attending supervising/collaborating physician(s) per state law and hospital policy. May provide autonomous team-based care. Duties include obtaining medical histories, performing physical exams, reviewing diagnostics, and formulating treatment plans. May perform procedures and prescribe treatments and medications in accordance with guidelines. May serve as first or second assistant on operative cases within scope and prerequisites. Other duties as needed within department goals and responsibilities. Patient Education & Psychosocial Support: Educate patients/families on care and resources; collaborate with supervising MD on treatment plans, discharge plans, and potential side effects. Provide psychosocial support to patients and families in a caring, ethical manner. Information Management: Ensure appropriate documentation per hospital and regulatory requirements; protect information from unauthorized access or disclosure. Quality Management: Demonstrate professionalism, ethical behavior, and commitment to patient care; ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing projects to maintain and advance competency; may serve as a clinical resource or preceptor; participate in safety reporting and quality improvement; support education and research activities as applicable. Qualifications

EDUCATION Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program. EXPERIENCE Clinical working experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line is preferred but not required. APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS hospital and go through the Medical Staff credentialing process. Evidence of current competence to practice must be provided, including reference letters from physicians and other practitioners during appointment. LICENSURE Active PA Certification by NCCPA, Connecticut State PA License, ACLS/BLS where indicated, DEA license as applicable. PALS/NRP as required for neonatal or pediatric care. Additional licensure, certifications, and continuing education may be required based on position and specialty. Additional Information
