Certified Medical Assistant and Preceptor (5,000 Sign-On Bonus + Pay Differential)
Kinwell is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant and Preceptor to join our Ballard clinic in Seattle, WA. This role involves assisting with prep for daily appointments, managing patient appointment schedules, maintaining clinic cleanliness and supplies, communicating patient status and needs to the clinician, and assisting with check-out and follow-up duties. The role also acts as the Medical Assistant Preceptor, supporting onboarding and clinical development of new and early-career Certified Medical Assistants. The position works under direct supervision of a healthcare practitioner to use clinical knowledge and skills to meet patient healthcare needs.
Sign-On and Pay Differential
Kinwell offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants and eligible rehires for this position. This role qualifies for a +7.5% pay differential for employees working as a Preceptor. It also qualifies for an additional +7.5% pay differential for employees assigned to a home location in a qualifying Kinwell Clinic (Ballard, Denny Way, and Westlake).
What You’ll Do
Act as a preceptor for Medical Assistants, providing hands-on guidance, clinical support and mentorship.
Demonstrate best practices, ensuring consistency in clinical and operational procedures across the team.
Offer feedback and support in the development of clinical skills and workflow efficiency.
Provide one-on-one support to assist Medical Assistants in achieving proficiency in all required clinical tasks.
Greet patients and prepare them for physical examinations, obtain vital signs, weight, height, review medications and medical history, allergies, and perform ancillary tests as required.
Assist physicians during patient examinations and treatment.
Provide patients with information regarding their visits and ensure comfort before and during exams.
Set up for and assist in procedures as needed.
Dispense medications and medical supplies as ordered by the physician.
Perform ancillary tests such as rapid testing, blood draws, and other routine lab procedures as ordered.
Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and manage lab-related documentation.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms, clinic spaces, equipment, and stockrooms.
Perform routine maintenance checks and sterilization of medical equipment.
Ensure clinic rooms and lab areas are stocked with necessary supplies; maintain inventory and reorder as needed.
Assist with managing clinic and clinician schedules to maximize efficiency and patient flow.
Collaborate with Patient Care Coordinators to review visit schedules and support daily clinical huddles.
Facilitate daily huddle reviews of visit schedules for patients requiring multi-resource support or special needs.
Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation in the electronic medical records (EMR) system; follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on patient care and clinic operations.
What You’ll Bring
Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) by time of hire.
Active Washington state certification through the Department of Health as a Certified Medical Assistant or Interim CMA.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care strongly preferred at time of hire, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Experience using EPIC (preferred).
Demonstrated clinical expertise and proficiency in clinical procedures with a focus on quality patient care.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and strong communication skills to gather patient history.
Independent decision-making skills and ability to work as part of a team or independently.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.
Working Environment
Clinical setting with frequent patient interactions.
Standard office conditions with regular use of computers and medical record systems.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods and move within the clinic setting.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally; ability to push/pull and carry as needed.
Ability to use a keyboard and communicate clearly in person and via telephone.
