The PA Intensivist Medicine is a licensed, certified, non-physician healthcare provider who actively renders direct patient care with delegated prescriptive authority, credentialed and privileged, and billed as an independent provider where applicable. Inpatient Medicine providers work in an intensivist/critical care setting, managing patients through rounds, procedures, admissions, and discharges in collaboration with supervising physicians. Responsibilities
Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories. Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs. Prescribe, recommend, and/or employ medical therapies and procedures in accordance with approved protocols, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost; advise on health-risk interventions. Formulate and implement outcomes-based treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team; evaluate patient response and care effectiveness. Counsel patients and families regarding medical processes, management, medications, nutrition, and health promotion, including potential drug interactions and side effects. Maintain patient records detailing treatment plans and outcomes; initiate timely consultations and referrals when scope or expertise is exceeded. Provide consultation-level services for conditions related to the specialty; perform invasive procedures within scope and competency as delegated by the supervising physician. May conduct hospital rounds, assist with admissions/discharges, and provide on-call support; may perform duties beyond the regular schedule based on coverage needs. Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an Accredited PA program Experience: Less than 1 year of experience Certification/License: Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in Texas; NCCPA certification Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer Seniority level
