$89,690.71 Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
Conduct on-site licensure inspections, complaint and incident investigations, and annual comprehensive surveys in facilities to determine compliance with federal and state health and safety regulations in areas including admissions, transfers, discharges; resident rights; quality of care; quality of life; resident care plans; social, psychological and rehabilitative services; and provision of medical services. Communicate clearly and accurately with others to provide, exchange, or verify information and resolve inquiries or complaints in Texas long-term care facilities. Conduct exit conferences with facility staff; complete inspection or survey reports detailing deficiencies and narratives to support regulatory findings. Revisit home health agencies and hospices to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations. Perform quality assurance reviews of documents prepared by others; may supervise team members during inspections. May testify at hearings or in court proceedings to provide information regarding policy/procedures, findings, or activities. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of issues and needs of populations at risk in health care and institutional environments (elderly, mentally ill, developmentally disabled, medically frail, etc.). Interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively; ability to interpret regulatory policies and regulations. Experience in quality assurance monitoring, program review, certification, surveys, or investigations; ability to prepare detailed written reports. Ability to multi-task, analyze data, and solve problems; work independently; use computer for writing reports; exercise professional judgment. Registrations, Licensure Requirements Or Certifications
Must be licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact. Applicant must complete all federal/state training for Home and Community Support Services Agencies. Initial Screening Criteria
Experience as an autonomous health care provider in a home health or hospice setting, long-term care facility, hospital, or as a field nurse/case manager. Preferred two years of RN experience in healthcare settings; minimum one year in institutional care, home health, hospice, or long-term care settings preferred. Additional Information
Flexibility in work hours; travel up to 80% (day travel, some overnight/weekend); reliable transportation required. Possible compressed workweek options (e.g., Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday, 10-hour days). ADA accommodations available during hiring; contact HHS Employee Service Center for assistance.
