The position has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for delivering nursing care through the nursing process. The incumbent accepts accountability, applies competent clinical knowledge and skills, and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by health care providers to whom care is delegated to achieve quality patient care outcomes. This role provides professional nursing care for patients in an inpatient hospital setting within the scope of an RN.
The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills at the advanced beginner level necessary to provide care relevant to patients under their care and apply growth and development principles across the life span. The incumbent must assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs and provide appropriate care.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:
Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Registered Professional Nurses, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a registered professional nurse OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
Experience:
One (1) year of nursing experience.

Modifies patient’s plan of care based on data collection and patient’s individual needs.
Uses Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) to provide patient care.
Delegates according to scope of practice.
Verifies the plan of care with interprofessional colleagues, patient, and caregiver(s).
Provides education based on learning needs and involvement of family.
Promotes effective communication among interprofessional team members and healthcare consumers.
Utilizes appropriate resources in providing care, especially in sensitive situations.
Engages in activities related to quality improvement and ethical practice to promote safe patient care.
Participates in continuing professional development and learning activities.

Physical requirements include lifting or carrying 40+ lbs, standing, walking, stooping, and repeated movements as required by patient care tasks.
Visual and hearing acuity within normal ranges for monitoring and assessment.
