Behavioral Health Specialist - Full time, OVNs 11pm-7:30am at Hartgrove Behavioral Health System. Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and activities of daily living Perform crisis intervention techniques and respond to code situations Monitor and ensure patient safety through ongoing rounds Therapeutically communicate with patients Assess and communicate patients’ physical and psychological status Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living when necessary Essential Job Functions
Perform crisis intervention techniques (verbal and physical) and respond to code situations Monitor and ensure patient safety at all times via continuous Q15 minute rounding Ability to therapeutically communicate with patients Ability to recognize and communicate the physical and psychological status of patients Nonessential Job Functions
Maintain a clean work setting and milieu Assist in transporting patients to and from the hospital when needed Performing vital signs on patients Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or GED required, with 5+ years of related psychiatric experience. Associate’s Degree accepted with comparable experience. Experience:
One-year experience in mental health field, or an equivalent amount of college coursework or internship experience. Licensure/Certification:
State of IL EMT & Paramedic Certificate Qualifications Desired:
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field strongly preferred. Experience (preferred):
One year of inpatient psychiatric hospital experience with children, adolescents and adults; experience with crisis intervention techniques; group therapy; vital signs; nursing progress notes. Job Details
