Overview
Manager Nursing - Critical Care at CHI Location: Houston, TX (St. Luke's Health – The Vintage Hospital). Provides 24-hour accountability for a unit area with leadership in patient care, environment monitoring, quality assurance, budget management, human resources, and competent clinical practice. Job Summary And Responsibilities
Support and actualize the Division of Nursing philosophy and goals by assuming leadership in program development and implementation. Facilitate professional growth and development of staff using career development plans. Identify staff development and training needs. Use CQI/CQE and staff input for educational program development. Develop and implement effective communication channels to provide information to all staff; hold at least one unit meeting per month with minutes posted. Direct and participate in the orientation of new employees; evaluate programs affecting employees. Establish a council structure with an elected Staff Nurse Professional Practice Council representative; conduct monthly unit council meetings incorporating new knowledge and skills to meet changing needs of patients, families, staff, and the institution. Participate in unit, service, and divisional CQI/CQE programs; document results; report by deadlines; formulate corrective action plans for improvement. Meet established research-based standards of care and quality control targets; operationalize CQI; develop a multidisciplinary program to monitor quality of patient care indicators. Maintain fiscal budget within established variance, focusing on hppd, labor cost per day, overtime, orientation costs, SSP costs, and medical supplies. Adjust staffing patterns according to unit activity and patient acuity; review fiscal worksheets, analyze variances, and implement action plans. Develop and manage the unit budget to control operational and capital expenditures for capital equipment priorities based on patient unit needs and budget policy. Participate in innovative programs (pilot studies, research projects) that impact patient care within the past year. Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) with 3+ years of leadership experience required, or a Master's degree with clinical leadership in the discipline preferred. Required Licenses And Certifications: Registered Nurse: TX (RN:TX); Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR) within 14 days; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months. Where You'll Work
