American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) advances sustainable lithium‑ion battery materials through innovative recycling and primary resource extraction technologies. The Chemical Process Engineer will refine proprietary processes, working closely with R&D, plant operations, and external specialists to design, construct, and operate first‑of‑a‑kind facilities.

Requirements

Design and implement battery recycling and primary resource extraction systems from laboratory to commercial scale.

Iterate technical improvements to novel processing routes for high‑purity battery materials from diverse feedstocks.

Support operations and R&D with technical feedback and test plans for continuous improvement.

Size and select process engineering equipment; coordinate technical requirements with vendors and review submittals.

Develop and update mass and energy balances to improve chemical processing systems.

Complete process system designs leveraging solids, liquid, and gas technologies.

Collaborate with program management and construction teams to implement efficient designs safely and quickly.

Qualifications

Background in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.

3+ years of engineering or design experience.

Translate basic design principles and equations into functional equipment systems.

Interpret and produce Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).

Chemical processing background in Oil, Gas & Chemicals, Metals & Mining, or Mineral Processing.

Collaborate positively in a team environment.

Licensed Professional Engineer in Chemical or Mining (preferred).

Strong understanding of both organic and inorganic chemistry.

Experience with Autodesk CAD programs (Plant3D, Revit).

Experience with chemical process modeling software.

Experience developing Basis of Design documentation and process/control narratives.

Experience in water treatment, extraction, and purification system designs.

Physical Demands

Stand and sit for prolonged periods.

Walk throughout the plant.

Bend at the waist.

Lift assisted over 50 lbs.

Climb stairs and ladders.

Wear PPE including eye and face protection, hearing protection, respirators, and protective shoes.

Must have 20/20 or corrected vision.

Perform repetitive duties.

Work in environments that may include exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals for extended periods of time.
