A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As a co-op at MKS Power Solutions, you will partner with the Software Engineering group to develop and test FPGA-based advanced mathematical algorithms and implementation of neural network and other machine learning inferencing engines. This is a great opportunity for someone to work on real-time application of AI in FPGA models. In this role, you will report to a Software Engineering manager. This co-op runs from April - December of 2026.
You Will Make an Impact By:
Baselining FPGA-to-FPGA communication throughput and latency through a Gigabit interface
Exercising an FPGA deep neural network workflow from algorithm to implementation of an inferencing engine
Testing and evaluating critical metrics
Travel Requirements: Up to 0 % of Travel is required.
Skills You Bring:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in CE, CS, or EE or a related field
Familiarity with FPGAs and FPGA build tools
Familiarity with a machine learning framework such as PyTorch or similar
Familiarity with scripting
Preferred Skills: (Optional)
Familiarity with mathematical background of machine learning algorithms, particularly of inference engines
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Operates in a professional office environment
Constantly operates a computer and other electrical and mechanical laboratory machineries.
Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly Pay Range: $25.00 to $33.00 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
Benefits: MKS offers a benefits package for interns/co-ops working at least 20 hours per week, including 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 paid vacation days accrued on a biweekly basis.
The application period for the intern/co-op position is estimated to be through the end of February 2026; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.
