Overview

TMMG is looking for an experienced Piping and Outfitting Design & Engineering Output Quality Specialist to support the completion and delivery of two highly complex Multipurpose Support Vessels (MPSVs). These vessels were initially constructed in Louisiana and are now undergoing final mechanical, electrical, and systems outfitting at our Florida-based shipyards. While structural components are substantially complete, the remaining scope involves significant integration, testing, and commissioning of marine, propulsion, and auxiliary systems. The Piping and Outfitting Design & Engineering Output Quality Specialist will provide technical oversight and hands-on support for the final phases of pipe system design validation, output coordination, and installation quality assurance on Hornbeck Offshore Services Vessels HOS-369 and HOS-370. This role ensures all pipe and outfitting-related engineering deliverables are complete, accurate, and production-ready, while actively supporting the resolution of field engineering issues during installation, testing, and pre-delivery activities. Background check, drug testing, and US Citizenship are requirements for this position. Contingent on award.

Key Responsibilities Review, verify, and coordinate pipe system drawings, isometrics, spool sheets, material lists, and system routing packages prior to release to production. Review, verify, and coordinate outfitting drawings, material lists, and related packages prior to release to production. Ensure compliance with ABS, USCG, and HOS design standards for piping systems including HVAC, fuel oil, ballast, bilge, seawater, freshwater, and firemain systems. Support engineering-to-production handoffs, ensuring packages are constructible and aligned with field realities and material availability. Coordinate with pipefitters, production managers, and field engineers to resolve clashes, incomplete details, or impractical routing in real time. Track and resolve field changes through Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Field Engineering Requests, and redlines; ensure updated documentation reflects as-built conditions. Monitor installation quality and alignment with design intent, especially around penetrations, supports, insulation, and system segregation (e.g., potable vs. non-potable). Conduct final walkdowns and punch list support for piping systems during pre-test and trial periods. Liaise with shipyard and subcontractor QA teams to ensure hydrostatic test packages, flushing, and cleanliness requirements are met. Assist in delivery documentation prep, including final as-built piping diagrams and system conformity reports.

Education/Certification Requirements Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent field experience. 5+ years of ship piping design, outfitting design and field engineering experience, preferably with a strong concentration in offshore vessels or commercial marine platforms. Deep understanding of pipe routing, space constraints, system design logic, and installation sequencing. Familiarity with ABS and USCG standards for commercial vessel piping systems. Deep understanding of Navisworks and de-clashing capability. Skilled in reading and interpreting 2D/3D pipe drawings and isometric packages (AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, etc.). Experience working in a shipyard environment with direct interaction with pipefitters and production teams. Strong documentation and drawing control habits.

Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with Eastern Shipbuilding Group or HOS vessels. Hands-on experience with pipe testing and flushing procedures. Hands-on experience with outfitting and sequencing. Familiarity with common shipyard QA/QC procedures and practices. Experience using Navisworks or similar 3D model review tools to validate piping integration.
