Overview
Senior Piping Stress Engineer 1 - Nuclear. This position provides senior-level technical support in piping engineering and analysis for nuclear projects, including calculations, designs, and interaction with project teams. The hybrid work schedule requires in-office presence 3 days per week. Responsibilities
Prepare and review complex calculations and designs of a technical and varied nature. Review simple system/structural designs and prepare complex system designs. Prepare and review design inputs for drawings (P&IDs and Master Diagrams) and perform engineering reviews of drawings. Prepare and review equipment and material specifications; prepare bid evaluations for systems and larger components; support economic evaluations and vendor data collection. Prepare and review simple reports/studies; develop project budgets, schedules, and work plans; monitor progress to meet budget and schedule. Provide single-discipline input to simple proposals and communicate technical information clearly to project teams and clients. Prepare deliverables that meet client requirements and summarize meeting notes clearly and timely. Discipline Focus
The Piping Engineering & Analysis discipline conducts evaluations in accordance with ASME B31.1, ASME B31.7, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, and related codes. Topics include: Vibration monitoring and analysis, with mitigation design support for plant modifications and operating events. Hydraulic transients evaluation, thermal stratification effects, operability evaluations, and pipe qualification for hydrodynamic loads. Pipe rupture evaluations, wall thinning due to FAC or MIC, and pipe flaw evaluations. Qualifications
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with emphasis on solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis. 5+ years of relevant experience. Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME BPV Section III piping codes; knowledge of pipe supporting elements; working knowledge of piping products. Must be bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, and write). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred/Valued Skills
P.E. license (not required) 3D CAD navigation, AutoPIPE or PIPESTRESS experience, gas dynamics and hydraulic transients knowledge, pipe condition assessment. Experience with ANSYS Workbench and Mechanical ADP. Award-Winning Benefits
