Laser Welding Engineer - Battery Cells and Packs

LER TechForce is looking for an experienced Welding Engineer to play a crucial role in the production and development of EV battery projects. In this role, you will apply your knowledge of laser welding for batteries to support the automotive industry. Effective communication and attention to detail are essential as you will create LiON battery cell and battery pack welding processes. Hybrid, relocation assistance available from the US, Mexico, or Canada WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Prepare detailed working diagrams, settings, and parameters for optimal laser welding. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. Research and configure fixturing for metals to achieve the best weld. Review best practices for LiON battery welding of prismatic cells. Monitor defect rates, drive improvements, and support product sustainability in manufacturing. Assist with product and process Continuous Improvement (CI) and development activities. Participate in Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) protocols. Conduct risk assessments to identify and eliminate potential defects. Create, maintain, and update SOPs to ensure operators understand process changes. Attend and schedule weekly meetings; lead and complete reviews. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related welding engineering role Prior laser welding experience with a track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making Prior experience with EV batteries BENEFICIAL

Master's degree in a related engineering discipline Experience with engine systems, gas, or diesel IPG (IRE-Polus Group) laser experience is highly desired Exposure to hybrid, full EV, or hydrogen fuel cell technology WHAT YOU'LL GET
