As our Data Center Construction Manager (CM), you will be part of a diverse, upbeat, and creative team tasked with solving fascinating problems constructing Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers are industry-leading examples of energy-efficient and cost-effective designs.

Responsibilities

Own project scope, quality, schedule, and budget for construction of new builds or general capital projects.

Own construction project management and oversight of construction-related activities.

Collaborate with Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to build Data Centers that support Customers.

Lead in your discipline (construction management, building services, architectural, electrical or mechanical engineering).

Represent Amazon’s owner’s representative on construction sites daily, interacting with trades.

Represent Amazon on multiple data center building and capital improvement sites from start to hand-off to operations.

Interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, punch-list, and closeout phases.

Create construction project scope and RFPs; conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids.

Manage cost, schedule, and quality while coordinating with contractors and vendors.

Oversee documents, submittals, RFIs, change orders, invoices, quality, scope, and schedule.

Drive construction teams to troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis on equipment failures.

Support commissioning and integrated system testing and oversight.

Support operations of installed facilities, including review of procedures and maintenance initiatives.

Support capital request creation and analyze/report construction progress and financials.

Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.

Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving construction efficiency and increasing data center resiliency.

Provide constructability reviews for electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent plus 7+ years of relevant construction experience, OR 11+ years of relevant construction experience in lieu of a degree.

6+ years of experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale MEP systems.

6+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience (RFPs, bidding, change orders, QA/QC, RFIs, submittal tracking).

Preferred Qualifications

MS in Construction Management or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural).

10+ years of experience in Construction Management of large-scale projects.

10+ years of experience in Project Management and Vendor Management.

5+ years in data center system-level architecture and electrical/mechanical engineering.

Experience designing data centers or critical MEP infrastructure.

Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, or CCM certification is preferred.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,400/year to $239,300/year, depending on location and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company; additional compensation may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and other benefits.
