Leads a diverse team of process engineers and/or technicians in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and assigns work as needed. Leads and participates on project teams which develop new products and manufacturing technology to reduce cost, increase capacity or improve process capability. Supports drive to fundamental process understanding and lowest cost producer objectives. Key Responsibilities
Actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects while also encouraging team participation and growth Develop/maintain systems to monitor equipment and process performance Lead process engineering support efforts and prioritize among team to maximize performance and minimize manufacturing costs Executes cost reduction and improvement (PEx) projects in line with business objectives Provide challenging assignments to direct reports and actively work with them to define and update career plans Actively participate in establishing department objectives, prioritization and resource allocation as dictated by business priorities or conditions Implements and documents material, process and/or equipment changes Conduct or sponsor experimentation for fundamental process understanding, capacity improvements, equipment upgrades and new vendor qualifications Receive new die technology to support process integration Develop OEE targets and project milestones to deliver Experiences/Education - Required
BS or MS in Engineering (Materials Science, Ceramic, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering) 2 - 5 years of technical experience in a process engineering role (manufacturing) Strong fundamental understanding of basic engineering principles and the ability to solve difficult technical problems Two (2) or more years of functional or project leadership experience Two (2) or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment Project management capability, particularly for process and equipment improvement projects Ability to apply strong data collection, analysis and visualization skills to make sound decisions Technical aptitude conducive to building proficiency in troubleshooting manufacturing processes and evaluating data Ability to multitask, prioritize, and assign work to direct reports in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, including formulas and graphing functions Practical experience with basic statistics, familiarity with advanced statistical methods Experiences/Education - Desired
Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or DMAIC project experience Supervisory skills, particularly in coaching technical employees Proficiency with Minitab, JMP, or related statistical software Demonstrated experience with hands-on troubleshooting of process equipment Lean error proofing experience Project management experience Soft Skills
Strong communication and presentation skills Technical curiosity and personal integrity (We live the Corning Values) Personal initiative and commitment; able to function independently Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities Organized with good planning and time management skills Ability to build relationships within cross functional groups; team building skills Positive attitude, flexible and good work ethic Salary range: $96,727.00 - $133,000.00 for full-time status. Starting pay is dependent on factors including location, market demand, experience, training, and education.
