We are currently seeking a Civil Project Design Engineer in our Bozeman, MT office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer looking for a step up in their career. Additional office locations include Billings, Helena, Kalispell, and Missoula, Montana. Civil Project Design Engineer

As a Civil Project Engineer 2, you will be responsible for performing as Project Manager (PM) on some projects. You will also provide mentorship on detailed engineering analyses in the preparation of engineering reports, permit applications, and construction plan preparation. Individuals in this position will participate in Learning & Development opportunities focused on personal and career growth, with the potential to advance into a high performing Project Manager role in the future. You will direct and train Civil Design Technicians and/or Civil Designers. Independently evaluate, plan, and conduct work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. May devise new alternatives/approaches to problems and perform difficult and technically challenging work with a specialty area. May exercise project leadership in a technical or managerial way on certain projects or oversee portions of large projects. Principal Responsibilities

Prepare or assist other PMs with writing proposals. Collaborate as a PM or in support of other PMs with the resourcing of staff and scheduling work. Coordinate planning, survey, municipal, transportation, traffic and other civil departments and disciplines. Direct staff in the design of on-site and/or public water and sewer systems per local regulations. Direct technical staff with field inspections and/or efforts to certify improvements meet the plans as approved. Complete permit applications for a variety of agencies. Possess an understanding of materials and methods. Interpret state and local design criteria and apply to project needs. Regularly have work assignments checked by peer or supervisor. Direct and train other Civil Designers to assist in completing reports, exhibits, plans and specifications and permit applications as required by the project’s contractual scope. Ability to consistently produce high quality construction documents. Skills

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision, technical plans and drawings. Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs. Expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D software to enable mentorship of technical staff (not required but desirable). Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written formats to individuals or groups. Education and Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering. Professional Engineer license. 5 years minimum but 6 years preferred experience in engineering design within an engineering firm. This position is not eligible for sponsorship. IMEG
