Scope of Position Controls Engineer responsible for working within multi-discipline teams to develop and maintain optical fiber manufacturing equipment targeted at improved product attributes, reduced cost, or increased manufacturing output of optical fiber.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Use established fundamentals of electrical and controls engineering to identify concepts for control of manufacturing equipment; design, build and test selected concepts as an individual and in teams to enable improved and new manufacturing equipment and processes.
Specify, integrate, test and validate controls hardware and software.
Collaborate with equipment design, processing equipment deployment, and manufacturing receivers during later stages of technology development.
Develop solutions to deal with electrical and controls component obsolescence issues.
Travel Requirements Domestic travel:
Required Education and Experience
B.S./M.S. Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics engineering, or Similar, with 0-1 years manufacturing experience working with process and automation equipment with applicable co-op and/or internship experience.
Required Skills
Industrial Control system programming capability.
Capability to integrate I/O field devices and associated safety systems into an overall controls package.
Familiarity with electrical system design in AutoCad Electrical, including control panel layouts, component selection, and schematics.
Strong experimental, instrumentation, control, and analytic skills to ensure data produced is valid and traceable.
Desired Skills
Knowledge/experience with PLC controlled materials processing equipment.
Fanuc robotics experience, roboguide and teach pendant programming.
Experience with AC/DC motors & drives, SCR elements, and/or other electrical systems.
Capable of providing solutions which require current and advanced control theory.
Strong background in electrical control systems, PLC’s and microcontrollers.
Familiarity with distributed control and I/O.
Operational skills to execute test plans & calibration procedures.
Compensation The range for this position is $69,847.00 - $96,040.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
