Staff Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - Trauma Surgery

Scope of Position: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services aimed at achieving positive patient outcomes, maximizing patient involvement in their own care, and reducing hospital stay lengths. The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care. Position Summary: The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to patients and their families, as well as directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, delegates, and evaluates nursing care in alignment with the professional practice model. Unit Details: 7 Brain and Spine is a 29-bed unit in the Acute Care Department, specializing in trauma surgery. We admit patients for acute surgical interventions due to motor vehicle accidents, falls, gunshot wounds, intra-abdominal issues, and overflow orthopedic surgery. Our unit offers a blend of acute and progressive care accommodations. We foster a staff-driven nursing practice through our Unit Leadership Committee and Evidence-Based Practice.
