The position involves providing direct patient care in emergency settings, under supervision, and requires licensure as an RN or Critical Care Paramedic, depending on qualifications. Essential Job Functions Adhere to established standards of care, utilizing the nursing process or paramedic protocols. Demonstrate critical thinking and sound clinical judgment, responding quickly to patient condition changes. Understand and apply EMTALA and COBRA regulations. Qualifications Knowledge of nursing process (RN) or paramedic protocols (CCP). Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written. Ability to meet the developmental needs of patients across all age groups. For RNs: Current Iowa RN license; for CCPs: Current Paramedic certification in Iowa; Critical Care Paramedic endorsement within 6 months. BCLS certification required; ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and PHTLS within 1 year. NRP strongly encouraged. Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months. Education RNs: Graduate of an accredited nursing school, BSN preferred. CCPs: Graduate of an accredited EMS program. Experience Minimum 2 years in critical care, emergency, pre-hospital, or hospital setting. Basic computer skills and EMR experience encouraged.
