The
Physical Therapist 1 (New Graduate/Entry Level)
at the UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital is responsible for providing high-quality physical therapy services under the supervision of the Director of Therapy. This role involves planning, evaluating, and implementing individualized treatment programs to support patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals.
The Physical Therapist 1 conducts evaluations, delivers evidence-based interventions, and documents all aspects of patient care in compliance with departmental and regulatory standards. This position requires sound judgment in clinical decision-making, documentation, and patient-related treatment issues while working collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations for assigned patients
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to support functional recovery
Provide therapeutic interventions in alignment with patient goals and best practices
Document patient care, progress, and outcomes in compliance with departmental standards
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, exercises, and strategies for continued recovery
Demonstrate professional judgment and adherence to ethical and regulatory guidelines

Minimum Qualifications
California Licensed Physical Therapist
American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
Graduated from an accredited physical therapy program (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in the U.S., or completed requirements for foreign-trained physical therapists working in the U.S.
New graduate or entry-level professional with prior clinical or work experience supporting complex patients in inpatient rehab or acute care, overseeing the plan of care
Must be able to perform all responsibilities of a licensed physical therapist as required and assigned by the supervisory staff of Physical Therapy
Ability to exercise good judgment
Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with hospital staff in a clear, concise, professional manner
Organizational and developmental skills
Skills and ability to work in stressful situations
Tact and diplomacy skills
Ability to provide and accept guidance and criticism
Must see well enough to observe patient reactions and read relevant monitors, relevant device settings, and relevant written information such as the patient's medical record
Must hear and speak well enough to communicate with patients and staff throughout the day
Must possess the physical strength to assist with patient mobility
Must possess sufficient mobility to traverse the distances required to serve patients throughout the institution
Must have basic computer skills

Experience with documentation in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
