Additional Job Description: WVUHS Medical Group and the Department of Emergency Medicine seeks a full-time (0.9 FTE) Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Professional to join our community emergency medicine practice at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, West Virginia.
Charleston, West Virginia's capital city, is situated at the confluence of the Kanawha and Elk rivers. It is accessible via three major interstates and offers a rich history, a growing arts scene, and recreational opportunities.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) manages emergency medicine patients comprehensively, including biological, social, and psychological assessments. The APP coordinates specialty team involvement, reviews care plans, performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and manages discharge planning and follow-up. The APP also participates in educating residents and medical/nursing students, providing services in accordance with state law and licensing requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR NURSE PRACTITIONER:
Graduate of a CCNE-accredited nursing program with a Master's Degree in Nursing.
National Certification by recognized APRN Certification Centers.
Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications.
Experience preferred but new graduates are considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
ACNP or FNP considered.
PALS certification encouraged.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree as a Medical/Surgical Physician Assistant.
Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program.
Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants.
License or eligibility for licensure by the WV Board of Medicine or WV Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage comprehensive care for emergency patients, coordinate hospitalizations, perform evaluations, order tests, communicate results, develop care plans, and participate in education and research activities. Other duties may be assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work requires strength and stamina, including lifting and moving patients over 40 pounds.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work involves close collaboration, irregular hours, biohazards, infectious diseases, and working near biohazards and deceased individuals.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficiency with computers.
Strong communication skills.
