Overview
Patient Support Representative - Family Medicine. Open to entry level candidates. This role involves direct interaction with patients and co-workers, delivering service excellence and maintaining confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities
Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Requires a high level of public contact and excellent interpersonal skills.
Interviews patients or responsible party to obtain personal, demographic, insurance, and medical information prior to services. Enters accurate patient information into the electronic health record and scans identification and insurance cards into system. Maintains confidentiality of patient information and complies with HIPAA regulations.
Understands insurance and compliance requirements and obtains necessary signatures on appropriate forms and documents as required.
Verifies and correctly assigns insurance coverages based on eligibility responses. Demonstrates ability to explain plan benefits, authorization status, and medical necessity.
Creates a transparent financial experience including generation of preservice estimate, explains patient liability, and collects prepayments and/or outstanding balances.
Monitors and resolves registration-related errors in assigned Patient work queues.
Correctly transcribes and validates orders, as well as schedules walk-in appointments.
Advocates for patient engagement, including activation of MyChart.
Monitors environment and attends to patients, families and visitors needs in an effort to create a positive, expeditious registration experience.
Assists with wayfinding and connecting patient to care.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Training
Demonstrates proficient interpersonal and communication skills
Basic data entry and computer skills, including Microsoft Office products
Familiarity with medical terminology, preferred
Prior healthcare experience preferred
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education
HS diploma/ GED preferred from an accredited school
