Radiation Therapist Reports to:
Radiation Therapy Supervisor Department:
Cancer Services - Radiation Therapy Pay Range:
$50.65 - $75.49 per hour. This position is within the OFNHP bargaining unit. Step placement is determined by years of experience. Shift differentials apply: Evening $2.50/hr, Weekend $4/hr, Night starting at $10/hr. Schedule:
40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, Shift: Varies, Exempt: No
Responsibilities
Accurately delivers the prescribed course of radiation therapy with minimal supervision.
Understands the function of treatment machines/simulators and accessory equipment to utilize equipment to optimal capabilities.
May perform routine tumor localizations, simulations, and treatment planning procedures.
Prepare and maintain treatment records for accurate daily treatments.
Observe clinical progress and recognize symptoms of developing complications during treatment.
Ensure safe operation and maintenance of treatment apparatus, techniques, and procedures per department policies.
Participate in treatment evaluation sessions.
Submit accurate therapy charges.
Support the organization’s vision, mission and values; promote a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.
Comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures; act with ethics and integrity and cooperate with investigations.
Deliver customer service and patient care that is timely, efficient and accurate.
Qualifications
Education
- Required: Completed a 24-month course in Radiologic Technology, ARRT registration, and completed a 12-month course in Radiation Therapy Technology; or a high school graduate with a 24-month approved Radiation Therapy program.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Required: ARRT radiation therapy registration or reciprocity; current state or national license.
AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.
Experience
- Required: Ability to work well with sick/terminally ill patients and families; Preferred: One year of prior experience.
Personal Protective Equipment
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE.
Physical Requirements
- Detailed in the job description: standing/walking; lifting 1-25 lbs; occasional bending, reaching; etc.
BBP Exposure
- Risk for exposure to BBP; position is within the OFNHP bargaining unit and subject to union terms.
