Overview

Natividad is currently seeking to fill a permanent full time Supervising Clinic Nurse in the Cardiology Clinic. This position will assume shift responsibility for supervising the nursing and non-nursing staff. Perform a full range of nursing and administrative supervisory functions, and perform other related duties as required. Examples Of Duties / Responsibilities

Coordinates, supervises, and directs the clinical, operational and program activities, inclusive of personnel, on a day-to-day basis to meet department objectives Assist with programs of care for patients, in collaboration with cardiologists, hospital physicians, and/or other medical professionals as needed; orders appropriate treatments and regulates medications per physician-agreed standards Refers problems or illnesses that require immediate medical attention to the appropriate practicing physician; assumes on-going responsibility for follow-ups; monitors therapeutic procedures Orders a variety of diagnostic and laboratory tests which may include: X-rays, blood counts, cardiovascular stress tests, chemistry panels, lipid panels, liver function tests, medical levels, EKG, etc. Oversee patient authorization process from insurance companies; supervise and train staff on authorization process Participates in data collection for quality and other regulatory requirements associated with the department and assigned program Oversees Cardiology Clinic pacemaker program - Care Link Supervises, trains, evaluates and participates in the selection of staff and initiates and participates in personnel actions in accordance with the department’s human resources practices and procedures and organizational philosophy Acts in the absence of the Department Manager, as assigned Supports and participates in performance improvement and risk management programs; represents the division on interdepartmental and interdisciplinary committees and task forces as assigned Provides direct patient care as required based on staffing levels and patient loads Schedules staff requests for paid time off insuring needs of clinic staffing; assists in management of time keeping records Insures nursing assistant staff are trained in performing 12 lead EKG Teaches and counsels patients, parents or other family members regarding health maintenance in the area of cardiology; teaches individuals and families information and skills necessary to maintain and improve health; advocates for the promotion of good physical health and disease prevention Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated patient care; coordinates and facilitates referrals to other health or social agencies Reviews patient charts, records, documents, and maintains accurate records of assessments, evaluations, nursing/medical care administered, patient responses, and follow-up accurately and timely; utilizes the electronic health record system according to protocol and procedures established by the appropriate agency Monitors staff compliance with regulatory standards, governmental regulations and hospital standards and rules; Maintain confidentiality in accordance with legal standards and County regulations Performs other job related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications

Required License:

Possession of a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing or ability to obtain before start date is required. Possess and maintain a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card. Possession of a current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association is highly desirable. The Ideal Candidate

Will have proven track record demonstrating the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Thorough Knowledge Of Healthcare and nursing trends Quality improvement; principles and techniques of effective supervision and staff utilization Applicable Federal, State, The Joint Commission (TJC) and Title 22 standards and regulations Principals of operations of specifically assigned programs Working Knowledge of Principles of nursing and personnel management and supervision Modern principles, methods and practices of nursing and hospital organization Cardiology terminology and familiarity of major cardiovascular medications Skill and Ability to Coordinate administrative, operational and program activities Supervise, train and evaluate professional and non-professional employees Work independently Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Prepare and maintain concise and comprehensive written reports Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and other hospital employees, patients and their families. Experience / Education / Training

Education Completion of an accredited nursing program with a valid California Registered Nurse License AND Experience Three (3) years (within the last five (5) years) of progressively responsible experience as an RN at a level equivalent to Staff Nurse II in the Monterey County classification system or three (3) years with program experience specific to the assigned program and one (1) year of nursing experience in a supervisory or lead capacity. Employees who drive on County business to carry out job related duties must possess a valid CA Driver License for the class vehicle driven.
