Term and Locations Locations: San Antonio, TX and Houston, TX
Dates Of Employment:
Spring/Summer Term: Monday, January 5th at 9:00 a.m. CST – Friday, August 14th at noon
Summer/Fall Term: Monday, May 18th at 9:00 a.m. CST – Friday, December 18th at noon
Full time: 40 hours per week
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist project managers and technical staff with project work, business development activities, and organizational tasks. May be called upon to perform routine engineering calculations, review documentation, research technical issues, prepare/edit presentations and reports, organize files, review/write software, etc.
Able to perform specific tasks as assigned by project managers of limited scope. Tasks will typically require knowledge of basic structural engineering principles and techniques commonly employed in the design of classical construction materials including steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, wood, etc.
Tasks assigned may include hazard analysis, detailed structural design and design concept development, structural component testing, preparation of design specifications, research/accident investigation activity support, structural drawing development and review, checking and reviewing numerical calculations, structural data entry, report preparation, technical presentation development, and other activities
Receives training in various aspects of work as on-the-job assignment
Technical decisions will be of routine nature with ample precedent or clearly defined procedures as guidance
Requirements Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA in Civil-Structural Engineering or a related discipline from an ABET accredited curriculum, or rising Junior or Senior level student.
Qualifications: Preferred
Familiarity with 3D modeling software (SketchUp and/or Inventor)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Detail-oriented
MATLAB, C++, or C# programming skills
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access)
