Your Opportunity as the Engineering Manager Active member of the Senior Plant Leadership Team and is responsible and accountable for leading the Orrville plant engineering organization, plant capital management processes, initiative & project management, plant business continuity plan (BCP), property, building and facilities ownership, and provide technical safety, environmental and sustainability leadership.

In This Role You Will

Work jointly with HR and the Consumer Division Engineering team to establish staffing and resource needs

Responsible for coaching and development of the plant engineering team and ongoing performance management

Own and manage plant capital budget; track capital spending against budget and manage accordingly and provide fiscal year forecasted capital expense cash flow

Develop the plant 5-Year Capital Plan; work includes establishment, maintenance, forecasting and reporting of plant capital needs; work with finance, operations, and Consumer TSO to ensure plans align with the plant and Consumer Division Masterplans

Lead the Initiative Management (IM) Pillar for the plant including implementation of IM tools and coaching/development of plant resources, support efforts in design and improvement of corporate project management

Ensure effective and efficient execution of projects across the plant, manage project capital and expense spending; ensure proper purchasing standards are followed during the execution of equipment specifications and requisitions; and analyze spend trends and use data to improve systems

Ensure successful project start-ups using IM tools including development of equipment standards & specifications; Factory Acceptance Testing (FTA) protocol and commissioning protocol

Participate in and provide technical feedback for new initiatives and product development; partner with R&D in new product development to ensure successful engineering and equipment selection to deliver required process transformations

Maintain property records for site including titles, deeds, and surveys; manage document preparations for permits and permit records; develop and maintain facilities master plans for maintenance (structural integrity) and improvements including common areas, roofs, HVAC, plumbing, sewers, floors, etc.; manage interface with Company Risk Management Manager and Insurance Provider (currently FM Global)

Manage the facilities department and plant systems team at the plant. Ensure proper maintenance of all facilities and utilities equipment including the use of appropriate Operations Excellence standards and PSM (Process Safety Management) requirements

Owns the electrical distribution system and wastewater system health and compliance

Own, lead, and develop the plant BCP to address personnel, property, facility, utility, and equipment needs in the event of a business interruption

Owns technical safety programs (Process, Combustible Dust, Pressure Vessel, Fire, and Thermal & Electrical); ensure all projects meet tech safety and environmental requirements through coordination with and audits by the Plant HS&E Leader. Coaches and develops the owners of said technical safety programs.

Work with Sustainability Leaders on efforts to meet sustainability goals including energy, water, and waste reduction

Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager that support the continuous improvement efforts of the plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Delivery, Organization, and Sustainability.

Minimum Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in engineering

7 years of engineering experience

5 years of manufacturing experience

Demonstrated capability in leading large and complex teams and/or projects

Strategic leadership experience

Capital project management experience

People management experience

Profit and Loss or Cost Center experience

Ability to work a flexible work schedule

Experience in one or more of the following technologies: process/manufacturing equipment, packaging equipment, process controls, electrical and/or controls engineering, facilities engineering, and/or new plant construction and start-up

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role

Food or Beverage industry experience strongly preferred

Demonstrated experience in building a high-performance work culture and systems

Keen eye for detail and the ability to interface across disciplines and at all levels
