Assistant Director of Campus Activities (Nights & Weekends) Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Campus Activities, the Assistant Director coordinates and executes campus-wide activities, advises student organizations, and collaborates with the Office of Residence Life to plan evening and weekend programs. The role develops a comprehensive menu of programs based on strategic planning, assessment, available resources, and the University’s Mission and the Division of Student Affairs. The individual represents the office on division-wide committees and works with students, staff, and faculty to create inclusive, engaging programs that enhance campus life. Essential Functions

Develops, plans, and executes programming for campus-wide student engagement, including creating and coordinating activities and events for niche populations. Create and manage the evening and weekend administrator event coverage schedule to ensure all events are properly supervised. Advises student organizations through theory-based practices with attention to individual development, group cohesion, goal creation and execution, and programming. Serves as the primary liaison with academic units and administrative offices that serve student organizations to streamline partnerships and advising to promote academic success and connection to the institution. Assist in planning and implementing evening and weekend program initiatives and unique engagement opportunities. Assist with training, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating the Campus Activities Graduate Assistants and Student Assistants, teams. Assist with the management of the Student Resource Center daily operation, maintaining an inventory of resources, supervising reception staff, and tracking student attendance. Collaborate with Campus Activities staff, external departments and student organizations to plan and program large-scale events, including event reservation, contract preparation, on-site decision-making, and logistics. Work with university departments and partners to develop policies and procedures that meet the needs of the institution and student organizations. Participate on committees through Student Government, Inc. and university-wide and division-wide initiatives, including New Student Orientation. Serve as the on-site decision-maker and supervisor for events. Provide in-person and virtual coverage as needed. Engage in cross-departmental projects to support the Division of Student Affairs’ strategic priorities. Competencies

Event planning and student activities programming experience. Experience working with training and developing youth. Experience working with diverse populations. Computer skills, including word processing, databases, and spreadsheet applications. Familiarity with social media applications in promoting programming and events. Understanding of programmatic assessment and evaluation. Excellent written and oral communication skills. The ability to establish working relationships with faculty, staff, and students; commitment to building an inclusive and diverse environment. Working knowledge of best practices in Student Affairs and current trends and technology in student activities, student leadership, and campus, local, state, and federal regulations. Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment. The incumbent uses standard office equipment and may occasionally stand, move, sit, lift up to 10 lbs, and perform other routine tasks associated with the role. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is full-time and the expected hours fluctuate based on the event schedule. Travel is primarily local and may include visits to other NY campuses. Required Education and Experience
