Volunteers use their expertise, skills, interests, and life experience to shape fun and enriching leadership experiences for girls, and inspire them to reach their personal best. Volunteers help council staff facilitate the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls through exciting program opportunities leadership/self-esteem, financial literacy, travel, health/wellness, science, technology, engineering, and math. Volunteers choose from several flexible Pathways (the ways that girls and adults join Girl Scouting) that fit their lifestyles, including short-term or long-term service working either directly or indirectly with girls, and they can participate regionally, nationally, and internationally. Responsibilities
Attends (or has a representative attend) monthly Service Unit Manager Meetings in person. With Service Unit Support Specialist recruits, appoints, and evaluates all Service Unit team members. Recruits, appoints and evaluates Troop Leaders. Welcomes new volunteers to Service Unit within 1 week of approval. New volunteers are scheduled for 102 training within 2 weeks of approval. Hold Service Unit Team members accountable for their positions. Oversee and support all girl and adult members in Service Unit with the Service Unit Team. Receives and distributes all information from Council to Service Unit at a monthly meeting. Plan Service Unit recruitments with team to meet Service Unit goals. Share monthly Service Unit meeting schedule and minutes with Service Unit Support Specialist through email or hard copy. Remain informed about and comply with the most current policies, procedures, and guidelines of Girl Scouts of Central & Southern NJ (GSCSNJ) and Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). Encourages all troops in Service Unit to be part of the Council Opportunity Catalog. Keep Service Unit girl waiting list up to date. Create annual plan of work for the Service Unit with the Service Unit Support Specialist. Senioriy level
