Supervise and instruct a Mill Operations crew to perform in a cost-effective, safe, productive manner while protecting the environment and enhancing morale of others. Job Responsibilities
Oversee operations at the mill, crusher, and related support systems. Work with operators in all facets of process training, understanding, safety, and general work practices. Prepare and conduct performance evaluations, recommend promotions, and carry out disciplinary actions as needed. Investigate, analyze, and supervise the documentation of accidents, injuries, and equipment damage. Monitor and maintain all production and personnel records (i.e., daily production and inventory logs, timecards, evaluations, etc.). Generate work orders for repair or modification of operational equipment. In emergencies, off shifts, or as directed, perform or supervise completion of minor repairs. Communicate with other department supervisors that support mill activities (i.e., the Maintenance, Warehousing, or Mine Supervisor). Monitor work areas on an ongoing basis to assure a safe and cost-efficient operation. Develop personnel by training and example. Ability to react quickly and efficiently in emergency shutdowns and power failures. Maintain accurate records and files. Exercise discretion and judgment in job performance. Conduct performance evaluations, recommend promotions, and carry out corrective actions as needed. Investigate, analyze, and supervise the documentation of accidents, injuries, and equipment damage, and recommend prevention strategies as necessary. Punctuality and regular attendance are required. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management. Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies. Possess a valid driver’s license issued by the state. Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others. Perform other duties as required. Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records. Two years’ previous mill operations crew experience required. General knowledge of mining and the integration of the mining, milling, and maintenance functions. Skills
General knowledge of mining and the integration of the mining, milling, and maintenance functions. Must be production-oriented. Good working knowledge and skills with a PC utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs. Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management. Self-starter with the ability to work independently, with others in a team environment, and as part of the management team. Ability to function within the physical demands outlined in the attached sheets. May work holidays, shift work, and weekends as required. Reporting Relationships
