Entry Level Traffic and Transportation Engineer
We continue to expand our industry-leading traffic engineering and transportation planning practice known for its technical process, innovative solutions, and dedication to client satisfaction. We are seeking an entry-level traffic and transportation engineer to help drive the next generation of transportation solutions throughout the Connecticut area. Our staff is exposed to a diverse variety of regional, state and municipal planning and engineering projects. The successful candidate will support traffic engineering design and planning projects located primarily in Connecticut for AKRF’s Traffic and Transportation group located in Hamden, CT. The potential candidate will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of the region.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide traffic planning, design, and engineering services
Prepare studies to address multi-modal transportation issues, including those related to vehicular traffic, public transportation, pedestrian flow, street user safety, and parking.
Conduct field visits and oversee data collection efforts
Prepare designs for proposed roadway, intersection, and pedestrian facility improvements
Coordinate internally with planners, engineers, and related professionals
Prepare written and presentation materials
Participate in professional organizations
Strong desire to learn and apply knowledge to develop solutions
0-2 years of experience in traffic engineering and/or planning.
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or transportation.
E.I.T. Certification or ability to obtain such
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel; CAD (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, OpenRoads Designer, and Microstation) and GIS experience is a plus.
Experience with traffic analysis software (i.e. Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, etc.) a plus.
Familiarity with CTDOT guidelines and standards.
Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
Compensation Compensation will range from $75k to $85k, and commensurate with experience.
