The Operations team at Firehawk is laying the foundation for the future of propellant manufacturing at our planned state-of-the-art facility in Lawton, OK. We are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to join us in Addison, TX, and help stand up Firehawk’s core quality function. As our Quality Assurance Manager, you will work closely with manufacturing, production, and engineering teams to ensure our propulsion systems meet the highest standards from design through production. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage environments, enjoys building quality systems from the ground up, and is passionate about delivering reliable, scalable solutions for defense applications.
Key Responsibilities
Lead quality support across product development and production for Firehawk’s contracts, including drawing and work instruction reviews, quality planning, inspection protocols, test performance management, and verification of parts, subassemblies, and full systems
Drive the transition from New Product Introduction (NPI) to a stable, scalable, and predictable high-rate manufacturing process, including supply chain and deployment readiness
Partner closely with design and engineering teams to ensure quality is embedded in the product from the outset, maintaining a deep understanding of product design and manufacturing for multiple system architectures
Define and implement robust quality processes across internal operations and external partners. Over time, grow and lead a quality team focused on subsystems, production, process quality, and supplier development
Develop and execute quality control plans specific to Firehawk’s proprietary propellant manufacturing methods. Track and report quality metrics to proactively identify areas for improvement
Conduct quality audits and inspections during development and production, collaborating cross-functionally to identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues in real time
Ensure all quality-related documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained. Define, improve, and enforce product and process requirements across the organization
Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Material Review Board (MRB) activities. Track corrective action effectiveness and share lessons learned across teams
Work with engineering to manage and review Technical Data Packages (TDPs), define critical and major characteristics for new TDPs and maintain configuration control of existing TDPs
Specify and develop inspection tooling, including automated defect detection systems for assembly and integration tasks, based on TDP requirements
Support the standup of Firehawk’s Quality Management System (QMS), including the creation and continuous improvement of documentation, policies, and workflows
Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and investigations as needed in support of company-wide objectives
Implement and maintain 5S practices across all facilities to ensure effective housekeeping, organized tool control, and proper torque qualifications of equipment
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field with Defense or Aerospace industry experience
Practical knowledge of AS9100, AS6500, and ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality, with direct exposure to production processes; experience building and managing teams is a plus
Experience translating product quality and performance requirements into test and measurement systems; knowledge of missile storage and maintenance practices
Proven ability to collaborate with Chief Engineers, and customer-facing teams to deliver on customer and compliance requirements
Working knowledge of product development and quality tools such as FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, and GD&T
Understanding of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including application of industry standards and best practices
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active DOD Secret security clearance
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with propulsion system and full-system integration, with quality oversight for components such as composites, control surfaces, propellant, and lethality systems
Experience working under government contracts and applying MIL standards to quality assurance for weapon systems
