Roles & Responsibilities

Conduct research, analyze, and use prospect research tools to identify potential supporters with a capacity to give $5,000 or greater and/or other significant resources such as time, talent, and networks.

Build year-round supporter engagement opportunities.

In collaboration with the Development Team develop overall revenue strategy and create strategic correspondence such as solicitations, briefing materials, written proposals, reports, and cultivation pieces to engage current and prospective supporters.

With the Development Director, develop and execute a robust discovery program with processes and procedures.

With the Development Team, build Community Centric Fundraising values and standards in identification, engagement, and solicitation processes.

In collaboration with the Development Director, identify a portfolio of approximately 50 current donors at the $5,000 level and up and begin engagement. In the first year, success will be measured by progress in relationship building, discovery meetings, and supporting campaign close out.

Support the Executive Director, Development Director, Board and Development Committees in their major gift engagements through donor research, communication strategy, and meeting preparations.

To help build an anti-racist organization and build an equity lens in our fundraising practices, have a willingness to have difficult conversations with donors when appropriate regarding Community Centric Fundraising values and practices.

As part of the Development team, this role will work cooperatively with team members to support fundraising events and annual programs to help engage current and new donors.

Provide significant support to the annual gala as it relates to the major gifts portfolio, specifically: table captain and attendee recruitment, paddle raise pledges, donor follow-up and thanking. Gala logistics are led by an event contractor.

Stay current with trends in fundraising and emerging means of gifting to look for new ways to engage with our community.

Produce monthly reports on portfolio activity and performance measured against fundraising goals.

With the Development Director, create and manage revenue projections for the annual budget.

Maintain data integrity, including entering and updating prospect and donor contact reports, plans and proposals in SF database according to established protocols.

Qualifications

Ease in communicating with high net-worth individuals.

Ability to build an equity lens in how RVFB engages in fundraising.

Knowledge of Community Centric Fundraising practices.

CRM databases: data entry and reporting.

Thorough working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Strong research skills.

Ability to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward individuals.

2 years of experience in direct solicitation of individual donors.

Genuine interpersonal skills and comfort developing relationships with food guests, volunteers, and staff across a wide range of backgrounds and lived experiences.

Exemplify ethical standards of professional fundraising.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent listening skills.

Extremely well-organized, detail oriented, and able to meet deadlines.

Availability for work outside of typical office hours, including regular evenings and weekends.

Project management experience with strong organization and analytical skills.

Education Requirements

RVFB recognizes that the best candidates may not have formal education credentials. We welcome all candidates whose work and/or school experience provides skills and experience that would fit this role.

Preferred Skills

3-5 years’ experience working in a development team of a non-profit organization

Proven track record in sales, cold calls, closure rate, initiation of donor/prospect leads.

Proven ability to manage and motivate volunteer leadership.

Understanding of and experience in the Puget Sound philanthropic community.

We welcome applicants who have transferable fundraising, sales, or relationship-building experience
