Overview The Office of Student Life supports Indiana University students by ensuring experiences are positive, safe, healthy, and meaningful. Residence Life houses predominantly first-year students in 15 traditional residence halls, 21 Living Learning Centers and Thematic Communities, and 2 apartment complexes for graduate and family housing. The Hoosier Den is a late-night entertainment space run by students for students, located in the Foster and Read residence halls. The facility aims to meet entertainment and social needs through dynamic programming and accessibility.

Job Summary The Building Coordinator supports the Hoosier Den in promoting and executing student programming. This role manages social media accounts and marketing efforts to enhance visibility and engagement and serves as a key liaison for student groups and external partners.

Responsibilities

Oversees Hoosier Den social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), posting regularly to promote general programming and specific events.

Collaborates with the Program Specialist to produce timely and effective marketing materials.

Maintain the Hoosier Den brand in partnership with Student Life marketing, standardizing assets like flyers, logos, and job postings.

Conducts outreach to promote the Hoosier Den, including meeting with potential partners or student groups.

Manages the BeInvolved platform to review external organization requests, coordinate scheduling, and process approvals from campus partners.

Works with the Program Coordinator to ensure seamless scheduling and execution of Hoosier Den Programs.

Serves in the Program Coordinator role during scheduled events, including on-call support as needed.

Serves as the main point of contact for external organizations, ensuring smooth communication and coordination for events and partnerships.

Aids the Residence Life Coordinator for Student Involvement and Engagement in developing transition documents, training materials, and presentations for all levels of Hoosier Den staff.

Manages office supply inventory and communicates needs to the Residence Life Coordinator to ensure operational readiness.

Reports misconduct or policy violations involving Hoosier Den employees or patrons to the Residence Life Coordinator for Student Involvement and Engagement.

Attends bi-weekly staff meetings to stay informed, contribute ideas, and align with departmental goals.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education

Required:

Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University

Preferred:

Currently studying Marketing, Public Relations, Communication, Event Management, or Hospitality

Work Experience

Required:

Familiarity with social media platforms

Required:

Customer Service experience

Preferred:

Program development and event management experience

Preferred:

Involvement in campus programs

Skills

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Ability to accomplish tasks on deadlines

Ability to plan, set up, and manage events from start to finish

Basic understanding of event technology (e.g., microphones, projectors, AV equipment)

Willing to work in a collaborative team environment

Ability to remain focused on work-related responsibilities during scheduled shifts

Working Conditions / Demands The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The position involves being able to move furniture up to 50 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Work Location Work at one or both Hoosier Den locations, Read Hall and Foster Quad, based on event needs. This is an in-person position. Bloomington, Indiana.

Advertised Salary $13.25 per hour. Work-study preferred. Students who are eligible for Federal Work-Study are encouraged to apply. Work Hours Ability to work between the hours of 7:00 PM–12:00 AM. Position is capped at 29 hours per week across all campus employment.
