Primary Function The Outage Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all plant outages and major projects. This individual will serve as the key process owner for outage and project management, ensuring compliance with EH&S standards, optimizing performance, and fostering collaboration across internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Provide direct leadership for EH&S compliance across outage activities and projects. Lead outage planning, scheduling, and execution in alignment with fleet best practices. Manage multiple consecutive outages (planned and forced) while supporting daily work planning and scheduling. Oversee development of work plans, budgets, schedules, KPIs, and performance reports. Ensure alignment of Asset Integrity, Strategic Maintenance, and MOC processes within outage planning. Conduct Outage Readiness Reviews (ORR) and facilitate recurring outage and project meetings. Coordinate workforce requirements with internal teams and contractors to optimize resources. Conduct field inspections, monitor performance, and implement lessons learned processes. Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, fostering open communication and problem-solving. Serve as the plant’s process owner for outage, project management, and performance optimization. Qualifications 6+ years of experience in a power plant outage management or similar role. Proven success in executing outages. High school diploma or GED required. Strong knowledge of SAP work orders, SAP financial/operations cost reports, and CMMS systems. Proficiency with planning and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera/P6). Experience with PowerSAM or equivalent project development databases. Must meet DOT PHMSA requirements, including pre-employment drug screening and participation in the DOT program. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related discipline. Experience managing both direct employees and contractors in a power plant environment. PMP certification or equivalent strong scheduling/project management background. Additional Skills & Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of power plant systems, maintenance analysis, and scheduling methods. Strong leadership, communication, and personnel management skills. Ability to work cross-functionally and achieve consensus in team environments. High accountability with a focus on safety, environmental compliance, and performance optimization. Adaptability to change and willingness to take ownership of results. Working Conditions Combination of office and power plant environments. Exposure to rotating equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals. Requires standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, and occasional lifting. Must wear required PPE (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, etc.). Requires a valid driver’s license, occasional overtime, and travel as needed.
