Overview
Merck invites applications for the 2026 Future Talent Program - 3DT Materials & Process - Co-op. The program features Cooperative (Co-op) education that lasts up to 6 months and will include one or more projects within our Global Support Functions Division. It provides development opportunities and a chance to explore alignment with long-term goals at the company. Responsibilities
Support Quality & Compliance (QC) activities within the 3D Technologies (3DT) materials and process pipeline. Build and maintain 3D printers, including prosumer-grade printers (e.g., Voron, Reprap-based systems). Qualify new printers and outline processing conditions to meet minimum quality controls (primarily FDM and Resin Vat). Repair, upgrade, or knowledge-upgrade existing printers. Identify root causes of print failures across a fleet through systematic analysis. Perform upgrades or process improvements to improve speed, reliability, and versatility. Identify equipment failures and part defects to improve or expand QC checks and Go-No-Go inspections; assist in training automated systems. Contribute to continuous improvements and R&D; identify workflows in lab Dev & Ops and 3D printing production for improvement opportunities. Execute research to expand capabilities (e.g., 3D printing for injection molding, 3D printing of tablets/pills, or wetted path components for bioprocessing). Participate in hands-on post-processing techniques to ensure high-quality parts for pharmaceutical cleanrooms. Support outreach activities and collaborate with different departments and processes within the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Required Education And Experience
Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. Currently enrolled in an academic program and returning to university after the co-op assignment to complete degree requirements. Available for full-time employment for a 6-month period in Apr 2026 – Sep 2026. Preferred Experience And Skills
Knowledge of XRCT, optical microscopy, hardness testing, and tensile testing. Hands-on experience with 3D printers (CAD/slicing/printing/fixing printers) and 3D CAD. Good documentation skills. Suitability for a 2nd or 3rd co-op cycle. Salary and Terms
The salary range for this role is $39,600.00-$105,500.00 USD. Notes
