The University of South Carolina is seeking a

Manager of Application Administration & Support

to lead a team dedicated to supporting and managing the university’s portfolio of third-party and homegrown applications. This role will oversee the

full life cycle of business applications —from deployment and upgrades to maintenance and retirement—while ensuring reliability, security, and efficiency. The manager will also serve as a

consultant across the USC system , partnering with colleges and departments to assess application needs and deliver solutions that improve service quality for students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities

Manage and mentor a team of Application Administration & Support professionals.

Oversee the life cycle management of third-party and custom-built applications.

Collaborate with university stakeholders to evaluate application needs and recommend solutions.

Ensure applications align with institutional standards, security requirements, and service goals.

Drive continuous improvement of processes, tools, and support practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proven

management experience

leading technical teams.

Expertise in

full life cycle business application support .

Strong understanding of

cloud application architecture .

Solid knowledge of

on-premises application architecture .

Familiarity with

homegrown/custom application architecture .

Understanding of

database interactions

with business applications.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Preferred Qualifications

Managerial Experience of at least 2 years in an Information Technology Environment.

Experience managing life cycle of applications in support of business functionality.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Management Experience.

Full Life Cycle Business Application Support.

Understanding of Cloud Application architecture.

Understanding of On Premises Application architecture.

Understanding of homegrown application architecture.

Understanding of Database interactions with Business Applications.
