Role The Deputy Project Leader has project management expertise as a generalist with experience in an engineering or construction specialty. This role will be responsible for managing the entire spectrum of a project lifecycle from initiation through close out. You will contribute during bidding and implementation phases and be proficient at identifying solutions that require ingenuity and creativity.
Responsibilities
Run day-to-day operations of a project or sub-section of a project.
Identify change orders and ensure effective resolution.
Price, track and manage change orders.
Plan and monitor cash flow against cash expenses.
Maintain as-builts as work is completed. Document project issues/conditions.
Plan and execute project completion and punch list.
Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
Research and compile submittals; pricing change orders and prepare estimates for partially designed projects by finishing the design and preparing a complete project estimate.
Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
Communicate with people outside the Company, representing the Company to customers, the public, the government, and general contractor representatives.
Understand timeliness required for decision making, submission of RFIs, and documentation of verbal conversations or agreements.
Qualifications
Education:
BS in Engineering (Preferred EE or Industry related degree) with 5+ years of experience.
Experience:
Related construction experience with five years of working for an electrical or construction contractor. Experience on projects ranging from $500,000 to $10M. Experience with contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, submittals. Experience with CPM Scheduling. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in producing precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawings. Strong interpersonal and writing skills and the ability to be a problem owner/solver. Proven ability to plan and organize activities. Proficiency with MS Office, Bluebeam, and PDF.
Preferred Skill Set:
Accubid Estimating (or equivalent) related to Electrical Installations. Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling Experience (or equivalent). Ability and willingness to travel to project locations as needed.
Abilities:
Ability to work with computer screens for extended periods. Sit for extended periods. Dexterity to operate a keyboard. Listen, speak, read, and understand information. Apply general rules to solve problems. Identify and understand others\' speech.
