Under the supervision of the Branch Chief of Transportation Permits Issuance and a Senior Transportation Engineer (Supervisor), the incumbent serves as the Construction Liaison in the Transportation Permits Issuance Branch. The incumbent performs complex technical work pertaining to transportation permits. As the Construction Liaison, the incumbent works with staff from the Division of Construction across the districts to maintain the CalRoute database with current restrictions that affect permit routing. The incumbent reviews/inspects the work of others as a secondary audit and assists supervisors with reviewing and updating Caltrans permit policies, best operating practices, and permits processing software. The incumbent also serves as a Permit Writer for processing applications for extra-legal vehicles and/or loads to travel on state highways. Duty statement reference: PARF# 51-6-024 / JC-494958. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle. This position is subject to the Post & Bid process.
