RN Clinical Manager Observation Unit Full Time Days Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and Level I Trauma Center with an innovative, patient-centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day shift operations in the Emergency Department at the unit level in a cost-effective manner.

Promptly and fully investigate and resolve complaints from patients, visitors, staff, and physicians, advising management appropriately.

Demonstrate the ability to respond and provide direction during crisis and emergency situations.

Help employees understand difficult administrative decisions and access to patient information for treatment purposes.

Provide leadership of the telemetry staff related to care of telemetry/progressive care patients and interventional cardiology protocols.

Coordinate human resources activities, including evaluation, counseling, and hiring of staff; ensure current job standards and competencies; complete performance evaluations on time.

Facilitate timely HR documentation, staff counseling/discipline, orientation, and ongoing education; maintain current records for all staff at unit level.

Promote sound staffing practices based on benchmarking and acuity data; optimize staff mix and unit flow; coordinate attendance at orientation and mandatory continuing education.

Assist in policy development, review, and revision; support department and organizational strategic plans; participate in quality improvement and PI initiatives.

Assist with budgeting controls, labor and supply utilization, payroll reports, and cost-saving opportunities.

Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, employees, management, and external agencies; act as a team member contributing to hospital goals and objectives.

Qualifications

California RN License (current)

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Certification

Must successfully complete EKG test within 30 days of hire

Must successfully complete NIHSS within 30 days of hire

Minimum of 3 years clinical experience

Demonstrated clinical competence and leadership skills; professional presentation

Preferred: previous management experience

Salary: $51.18 - $81.91 hourly; individual wages determined by qualifications and experience.
