The role focuses on delegating daily anesthesia support tasks, coordinating daily work assignments, and managing monthly personnel scheduling. It also includes inventory management, handling anesthesia supplies and equipment maintenance, serving as an anesthesia department liaison, and streamlining communication with WVUH departments to promote OR efficiencies, quality outcomes, positive patient experiences, and safety. The role provides input on personnel evaluations, orientation checklists, staff competencies, and capital equipment/space renovation planning. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: Associate Degree from Anesthesiology Technology Program

OR

Associate Degree in Medical Assisting with Certification as Medical Assistant from NCCT National Healthcare Association High School Diploma or equivalent with Emergency Medical Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse, Paramedic, or Veterinary Technician certification

OR

3 years of anesthesia tech experience Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience as an anesthesia technician PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Certification from ASATT American Society of Anesthesia Technicians and Technologists KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Model and monitor aseptic technique in anesthesia settings. Ensure proper disposal of single-use items. Set up and spike IV maintenance fluids. Prepare disposable supplies for sterile anesthesia procedures. Evaluate equipment needs for patient transfers, assist with monitoring equipment setup, and ensure availability of anesthesia equipment, including emergency airway supplies. Assist with line placement, perform other duties within scope, check expiration dates, oversee stock rotation, and ensure supplies are available and properly stored. Handle hazardous spills following SDS guidelines, complete incident reports, and educate staff on spill prevention. Set up supplies for pain management procedures, operate suction devices, switch anesthesia tanks, and confirm equipment readiness and safety. Support emergency situations, assist with routine case turnover, and clean and prepare equipment daily. Anticipate anesthesia needs, manage scheduling, and oversee daily assignments and staffing conflicts. Maintain communication with team members, provide input on evaluations and staff development, and perform quality monitoring to enhance OR and patient safety. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to wear protective gear, stand/walk for prolonged periods, lift up to 40 pounds, and possess visual, auditory, and manual dexterity skills. No history of malignant hyperthermia. Ability to hear alarms. WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Ability to follow directions, understand complex procedures, perform technical duties, prioritize tasks, and use PC software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
