The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) at UVA Health plays a vital role in supporting nursing practice through professional development, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives within a microsystem. The CNL collaborates with the Unit-Based Leadership (UBL) team to elevate clinical practice, train and coach nurses, and implement strategic outcomes aligned with UVA Health standards. Key Responsibilities
Professional Development:
Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical processes and programs to promote lifelong learning and competency maintenance among nurses. Evidence-Based Practice (EBP):
Assess and prioritize unit triggers for practice change, utilizing UVA Health's EBP process to identify and implement evidence-based solutions in collaboration with team members. Unit-based Quality Improvement (QI):
Work with UBL to address quality and safety concerns proactively and reactively on the unit. Additional Responsibilities
Monitor new hires' progress towards competency goals and collaborate with UBLs. Coach and mentor nurses in clinical learning, continuing education, and certifications. Contribute to competency development with Central Nursing Professional Development. Teach orientation and practice expertise as needed. Qualifications
Master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a relevant practice area. Virginia nursing license and CNL certification. Physical Demands
Standing for prolonged periods, frequent travel, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., and exposure to chemicals and biological hazards.
