Labor and Delivery RN – 13-week travel assignment Summary:
The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting, assessing maternal and fetal health, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. Responsibilities (Essential Work Functions)
Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with obstetric nursing techniques Prepare equipment and aid physicians during labor, delivery, and examinations Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care Respond to obstetric emergencies using evidence-based protocols Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication Ability to read, write, and communicate in English Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; proficiency in PC skills Physical abilities to remain stationary, move equipment, push/pull, and bend Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of personnel Technical/motor skills to assist with procedures and operate department equipment Mental and sensory requirements to handle deadlines, pressure, and visual acuity Preferred Qualifications
AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA / ARC) Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position Benefits Include
