Automation Technician I 2nd Shift
We are looking for an Automation Technician I to work 2nd shift at our Anderson, SC facility. You will be based in Anderson, SC, with a shift from 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm Monday through Friday depending on production needs. Please be advised that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position at this time.
Summary:
The Automation Technician is a skilled professional who designs, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots automated systems and equipment. They work with programmable logic controllers (PLC), human interfaces (HMI), and other technologies to optimize production processes and ensure systems run efficiently and reliably.
Responsibilities
Understanding of PLC principles and HMI functionality.
Report issues to Maintenance Engineering and provide technical support.
Initial and periodic review/editing through Management of Change (MOC).
Perform routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair automated equipment.
Adhere to safety, promote company safety initiatives on the floor.
Create and maintain documentation for automated systems, including schematics, manuals, and operating procedures.
Responsible for housekeeping and 5S in the assigned area.
Complete preventative maintenance sheets issued by scheduler/planner, maintenance lead mechanic, supervisor or maintenance manager.
Inspect plant equipment for proper working conditions and safe operation.
Use CMMS Maintenance System to document work order and record parts needed for repairs.
Reduce unplanned stoppages through effective root cause analysis and keep accurate record of downtime of plant equipment.
Issue work requests for issues needing attention when equipment is down.
Cultivate a team environment that supports zero safety incidents, zero quality defects, and zero preventable stoppages.
Must wear safety glasses, metatarsal toe shoes (ESD composite toe, leather top) and hearing protection when in plant.
Perform mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Possess understanding of electronic and mechanical components to troubleshoot and repair.
Comply with all OSHA safety and health regulations.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing effectively with managers, supervisors, and peers.
Experience maintaining a continuously operated chemical process.
Experience with LOTO.
3 years minimum automation experience.
Computer interface experience (MS Suite, MI Software, SAP).
Associate’s degree in maintenance technology and/or technical trade certificate a plus.
May be required to work weekends/shutdowns based on set up needs on these machines.
Must be able to operate a computer and a tablet (iOS and Android).
Technical Engineering Degree or Mechatronics, or extensive Mechanical Maintenance experience.
3 years’ experience performing industrial maintenance in a chemical plant setting.
Physical Demands
Able to lift 35–70 lbs.
Able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
Able to bend at waist, able reach above the shoulder level.
