The office based role responsible for Power system Studies and Relay settings engineering for medium & high voltage substations. As part of this role, the successful candidate will prepare, review and modify designs/reports. Perform arc flash studies, ampacity studies, TOV, and various other studies for NERC compliance. Analyze and create one line diagrams, three line diagrams, elementary diagrams and relay panel front view layout. The candidate will also be responsible for AC/DC Load Calculations, Battery sizing and cable sizing and voltage drop calculations.
Responsibilities
Make decisions regarding engineering complexities and methods. Requires use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices in relation to electrical power systems.
Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring of work activities, and coordinating design activities with other multi-discipline project team members.
Thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations.
Engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems.
Accountable to provide design activities in accordance with applicable codes and standards, policies and procedures.
Mentor and provide guidance to developing engineers within the department.
Support company’s goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
Continuous improvement of job-related, engineering technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
We invite applications from candidates with the following experience;
Qualifications
Electrical Engineer with BSEE or higher education from a recognized accredited institution.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Power system studies for high voltage substation design.
Experience performing ampacity studies, system impact studies, injection studies, arc flash studies, TOV and NERC compliance studies like MODs and PRC.
Experience using tools/software like PowerWorld, ETAP, ASPEN, PSS/E, CYMCAP, SKM, PSLF, python, C++.
