Houston, TX Job Summary
Medical lab technologist/technician demonstrates the ability to competently perform routine and complex laboratory testing using manual and automated methods with little or no supervision. Must also demonstrate competency in specimen collection, quality control, equipment maintenance, participation in quality assurance and performance improvement activities, and other duties as assigned by the lab director/manager. Responsibilities
Assist in daily operation of the laboratory. Promote an environment of respect and dignity through positive communication; demonstrate sensitivity to coworkers’ needs in special/unusual situations; protect the privacy of coworkers and patients. Maintain professional and technical competence in the laboratory setting. Maintain technical knowledge and skills in all laboratory sections. Take responsibility for learning new material, testing, instrumentation, etc. that becomes incorporated into the department. Update supervisor on inventory status as needed; use supplies in a cost‑effective manner. Assure timely results are reported in situations of instrumentation failure or personnel shortages by assisting the supervisor in assessing workflow and staffing patterns, and coordinating instrument maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime. Demonstrate HCA Nursing Core Values. Follow all safety rules and assist in maintaining a safe work environment. Perform other work as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree. No travel required. Minimum 2 years experience required. Preferred 6 months to 1 year experience; 2 years required. Certification: MT(ASCP), CLS(ASCP), MLT(ASCP), MT(AMT), MT(HEW) preferred. Fundamental knowledge of laboratory medicine, leadership and business skills. Benefits
