37.07 - 57.47 HOURLY General Summary

The Professional Cardiovascular Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care within the Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology Laboratory. The RN practices with specialized knowledge, judgement and skills in accordance with hospital policy, procedure, philosophy and licensure. The RN performs multiple roles within the Cardiovascular, Electrophysiology, and Interventional Neurology laboratories, including assisting physicians with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, diagnostic and interventional peripheral procedures, EVAR, electrophysiology procedures, device insertions/revisions, EP studies, and select neuro-interventional procedures. Responsibilities include monitoring cardiac and vascular conditions, preparing procedure rooms, patient prep, documenting patient information, circulating during procedures, X-ray fluoroscopy proficiency, blood work analyses, and operating intra-cardiac ultrasound. Maintains safety guidelines and can function independently during procedures. May work varied hours and on-call shifts, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends. Responsibilities

Prepares the patient care and/or procedure area prior to the arrival of the first patient or beginning of first procedure to provide for safe, efficient delivery of care. Receives and reviews charts for scheduled patients; ensures proper documentation, lab results, and consent are present; communicates abnormal results to the physician/NP. Prepares the patient for the procedure in a timely and efficient manner. Provides nursing care including complete systems assessment and monitoring for pre- and post-procedural cardiovascular and EP patients; communicates abnormal findings to the physician/NP; provides appropriate handoff to receiving RN. Participates in the “Full Stop” and/or “Time Out” process prior to each procedure per policy. Administers procedural sedation per policy. Documents handoffs, pre- and post-procedure care in the electronic system in real time; documents procedures in MacLab/CardioLab. Independently circulates procedures in the Cardiovascular and EP Lab; maintains real-time procedure logs. Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment and respects patient privacy. Participates in preceptorship of new staff; engages in ongoing professional development and maintains certifications; pursues specialty certification/advanced degree if applicable. All other duties as assigned within scope of responsibilities. Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience

Education: Associate Degree in Nursing; or graduate from an accredited program with a Nursing Diploma. Credential(s): Basic Life Support; Registered Nurse; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Experience: New graduates considered. Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience
