The Clinical Audiologist at Ear, Nose, & Throat Associates (ENTA) is a medical professional who works with people who have hearing, balance, and related ear problems. Audiologists provide services to prevent, diagnose, evaluate, and treat communication disorders. The services performed by the Clinical Audiologist in ENTA’s Audiology Department include, but are not limited to, providing diagnostic testing and evaluation services. Summary of General Duties
Clinical Audiologists at ENTA are primarily tasked with diagnosing and treating a patient’s hearing and balance problems using advanced technology and standardized medical procedures. This requires the Audiologist to utilize the training they acquired while earning a Doctor of Audiology or Masters of Audiology degree to interact with patients and other professionals in various and often dynamic clinical environments in a manner that benefits our patients. The Clinical Audiologist generally spends a majority of their work-day performing and interpreting diagnostic procedures. In addition to their university-based training, the Audiologist must regularly utilize clinical judgments from experience, knowledge of test procedures, interpersonal skills, and the ability to apply or modify test and standardized procedures as necessary. Specific Duties
Perform reliable diagnostic evaluations, including hearing testing, tympanometry, acoustic-stapedial reflex testing, oto-acoustic evaluations, reflex decay, and any special test procedures clinically appropriate to both adult and pediatric populations. Analyze the hearing, balance, or other ear-related problems reported by a patient. Select and administer the appropriate diagnostic procedures for each patient. For difficult-to-test patients, modify and apply assessment tools as needed. Assist in determining any appropriate referral or follow-up for patients after diagnosing. Document every diagnostic procedure in NOAH (ENTA’s Audiology-based software) and ENTA’s EMR system. Write thorough and timely reports for every Medicare patient evaluated, with testing rationales and a complete explanation of results and a plan for each patient. Provide information to the Central Business Office to enable proper billing of diagnostic procedures. Use communication, professional awareness, and interpersonal skills to discuss test result interpretations with patients and families and explain rehabilitative options including hearing aids and assistive listening devices. Inform patients and families about communicative strategies for individuals with hearing impairment. Communicate results and action plans with referring physicians and other professionals involved in a patient’s care. Develop clinical competence in BAHA/Osia/Ponto and Cochlear Implant discussions. Make ear impressions as necessary. Cochlear Implant Mapping, Bone Anchored solutions programming; use manufacturers’ software and interfaces to program and re-program hearing devices based on evolving needs. Maintain patient records by timely recording and updating evaluations. Take ownership of the office by communicating with physicians and staff to ensure a positive patient experience. Independently obtain CEU credits to maintain Florida state Audiology license. Stay up-to-date with professional knowledge by tracking trends, participating in educational opportunities, reading publications, and engaging in professional networks and organizations. Stay compliant with professional standards and federal, state, and local regulations. Attend annual OSHA training and after-hours meetings as required. Contribute to organizational goals by taking on new requests and identifying value-added opportunities for ENTA. Maintain departmental equipment with annual calibration and report issues to leadership. Share problems or areas for improvement with the Lead Audiologist or Practice Administrator; represent ENTA professionally at all times. What You Will Need
Doctoral Degree (Au.D.) or Master’s degree Must obtain and maintain Florida state licensure Professional certifications (e.g., ASHA CCC-A or ABA) Knowledge of HIPAA/OSHA requirements Ability to travel, if needed Seniority level
