Immediate temporary/on-call vacancies.
Work Location:
The positions are located at the Home Maluhia (shelter) in Honolulu, Oahu.
Gender-Specific Positions:
The positions require the employee to be of the same gender (female) as that of the client being served.
Shiftwork:
The positions require incumbents to work on a rotating shift basis, including weekends, nights, holidays, and outside of normal hours.
Intermittent (on call) Work Hours:
Some positions are identified as intermittent (on call), with hours varying from 0 to 40 per week based on department needs. Willingness to work weekends, nights, and holidays is required.
Test Information:
All applicants meeting minimum qualifications will be required to pass an Attitudinal Test to be eligible for employment.

Performs therapeutic counseling and allied rehabilitative services for juveniles in a non-secured shelter facility, including interviewing juveniles, assessing backgrounds, making referrals, and preparing reports. Additional duties as required.
Education Requirement:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree, including at least 12 semester hours in social science.
Excess work experience in responsible administrative, professional, or analytical roles may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, provided it demonstrates comparable knowledge and abilities.
The background must show the ability to write clear reports, interpret complex material, and solve problems systematically.
Specialized Experience (for education substitution):
Experience involving counseling individuals and/or families, such as educational guidance, vocational rehabilitation, psychological, pastoral counseling, or probation/parole services.
Note: Applicants graduating within 3 months with at least 12 social science credits may apply early, but must submit official transcripts upon selection.
Selective Certification Requirement - Driver's License:
Must possess a valid, unexpired driver’s license.
Testing Process:
Applications will be evaluated for minimum qualifications.
Qualified applicants will be notified by email to schedule an Attitudinal Test in Honolulu, Oahu, in person.
Only those passing the test are considered for employment.
Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement:
The Hawaii State Judiciary will not hire or promote anyone with certain criminal backgrounds related to sexual abuse or harassment, as specified by law.
